Golden energon is a regenerative form of energon that is said to make the user immortal. The only catch is, all the energon presently in the system must be expelled. Making Golden Energon a highly volatile form of energon; as it multiplies and forcibly rips open the user to get rid of all the energon currently inside of them. The only chance of survival the user has is the regenerating golden energon that is both a part of and destroying their system. Golden energon does not grant immortality, it only heals the users wounds faster, and keeps them from aging as quickly. Shockwave kidnapped Mirage and injected him with experimental Golden energon, hoping to create a finished product he could use to make himself immortal. Mirage almost died from the effects of the golden energon, he instead passed out and Shockwave abandoned him thinking he was dead.
